Nestled in the fertile Nechako Valley, on the banks of the Nechako River, Vanderhoof is the geographical center of British Columbia – the heart of it all! We are also proud to be the home of the Nechako White Sturgeon and Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

With four distinct seasons, there are many fun activities to experience in and around the community. Eight self-guided tour cards (available at the Visitor Information Centre) have been produced to walk you through local discoveries. There is a Nature Guide and a bird watching checklist to accompany the outdoor enthusiasts.

Farm and mill tours are available upon request (these need to be booked in advance). We have a choice of parks that offer a variety of opportunities from a lit walking track to outdoor fitness equipment to mountain biking and even a spray park for the children.

For those of you that are after wilderness adventures, there are many opportunities. Grab a picnic lunch and set out trekking to the waterfalls, great fishing lakes, or simply plan and overnight stay at one of the amazing resorts or campgrounds. The camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking guide highlight several options that are surely something that will intrigue your interests.

Special events are planned throughout the year. Hooterville, Hoot, Concert in the Park, Nechako Valley Exhibition, Great Pumpkin Walk, and the Parade of Lights to name a few. So grab your family, friends, and relatives and come out and enjoy all the festivities there are to offer.

For every season, there is a reason to visit us in Vanderhoof! What memory would you like to create today?
